Report: Former Penn State head basketball coach lands gig with mid-major program

Former Penn State head men’s basketball coach Pat Chambers will reportedly be the leader of a program again.
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein is reporting that Chambers is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach at Florida Gulf Coast, which competes in ASUN. The Eagles parted ways with Michael Fly following the 2021-22 campaign. He was with the program for four seasons.
Chambers spent last season as an assistant coach at La Salle. He was previously the head coach at Penn State from 2011-20. He stepped down just weeks before the start of the 2020-21 college basketball season.

During his time at Penn State, Chambers accumulated a 148-150 record with one CBI appearance after the 2013-14 season and an NIT championship in 2017-18. His best year came in 2019-20, leading the Nittany Lions to a 21-10 record and would’ve likely earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but it was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to taking over at Penn State, Chambers spent two seasons at Boston University, where his two squads went 42-28 with one NCAA Tournament appearance.
