Former Texas and NFL running back Cedric Benson has died following a motorcycle accident in Austin, according to a report.
According to Tony Plohetski of KVUE-TV, Benson was killed in an overnight motorcycle crash. The report was confirmed by friends and family close to Benson. He and a passenger were killed and two other individuals involved suffered non-fatal injuries.

Benson was a running back at the University of Texas from 2001-2004 and rushed for 5,540 yards and 64 touchdowns in his career with the Longhorns. He was a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, selected No. 4 overall by the Chicago Bears.
Benson had an eight-year career in the NFL, playing for the Bears, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. He rushed for over 6,000 yards and totaled 32 rushing touchdowns in his NFL career.
Benson was 36 at the time of his death.
