Report: Future Maryland QB suffers serious knee injury during FCS play with VMI

One player that is expected to join Maryland’s football team for the fall reportedly suffered a serious knee injury last weekend.
According to Jeff Ermann with 247 Sports, VMI quarterback Reece Udinski tore his ACL during a win over Samford last Saturday. He is expected to have surgery to repair the injury and will miss the rest of VMI’s spring season. Udinski had led VMI to a 4-0 start in the spring season.
According to Ermann, there remains hope that Udinski will be able to return to action and be ready to go with the Terrapins in the fall. He is expected to provide depth behind 2020 starter Taulia Tagovailoa after committing as a graduate transfer.
Udinski was in the middle of an impressive season for the Keydets. He was completing a career-best 71.5% of his passes for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns in the 4-0 start for VMI. In his career, Udinski has thrown for over 7,300 yards and 46 touchdowns.
