Report: Georgia QB JT Daniels expected to hit transfer portal

For the second time in his college football career, JT Daniels is reportedly hitting the NCAA transfer portal.

Mike Griffith of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday that the Georgia quarterback is looking to enter his name into the transfer portal. He initially transferred to UGA from USC after spending two seasons in Los Angeles.

Daniels is a former 5-star prospect and was the No. 16 overall talent in the 2018 recruiting class. He was also ranked as the No. 2 quarterback for the cycle.

The most prolific season for Daniels came in 2018, his first year at USC. He flashed plenty of potential, throwing for 2,672 yards and 14 touchdowns while completing just under 60% of his passes. The next season, Daniels suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of USC’s season, paving the way for Kedon Slovis to take over.

Following the 2019 season, Daniels hit the NCAA transfer portal and landed at Georgia. More injuries continued to plague his career and he’s never been able to solidify the starting role in Athens.

This season, Georgia won a national championship with Stetson Bennett IV leading the Bulldogs offense. Because of the success, it seems unlikely Kirby Smart would roll the dice on a change under center for the 2022 season.

In two seasons at Georgia, Daniels threw for 1,953 yards and 17 touchdowns with 5 interceptions. He will still have two years of eligibility to use at his next destination.
