Report: Incoming Ohio State president would vote to postpone season, not cancel

Incoming Ohio State University President Kristina Johnson would reportedly vote in favor of delaying the start of the college football season in the B1G, but not cancelling it entirely just yet. The report comes from Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch.
According to the report, Johnson would vote “No” to cancelling the B1G football season, because she believes there is a way the season can be played safely. This news comes after a report that no decision on the upcoming season has been made, despite earlier reports suggested that the conference was cancelling the season.
Johnson is not yet at Ohio State and will begin her duties on Aug. 24. She takes over for previous president Michael Drake.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said on ESPN on Monday that “We cannot cancel the season right now,” citing the flexibility within the schedule to allow for a postponement, if necessary. The B1G released its schedule last week.
During the interview, Day said he was “caught off guard” by the earlier reports and that he believes the conference needs to exhaust every option to play the season.
A meeting of B1G athletic directors is reportedly scheduled for Monday evening.
