Report: Indiana had interest in Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann to be next Hoosiers head coach

Indiana reportedly “zeroed in” on Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann to fill its head coaching vacancy, but the pitch fell short. Holtmann is happy coaching the Buckeyes.
Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reported on Friday that Indiana had serious interest in bringing Holtmann to Bloomington to be the next head coach of the Hoosiers. However, Goodman’s report indicates that Holtmann does not have any interest in leaving Columbus at this time.
Athletic director Scott Dolson made the decision to part ways with head coach Archie Miller after four seasons with the program. Indiana did not make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament during that time and never finished above .500 in B1G play.
Indiana zeroed in on Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann earlier in the week, source told @stadium. Holtmann is happy in Columbus.
Holtmann is one of four coaches who has seven consecutive 20-win seasons.

Numerous candidates have been mentioned for the job, including Brad Stevens, Thad Matta, Nate Oats, Eric Musselman, Mike Woodson and others. The Hoosiers have not landed on a candidate at this time, however.
Holtmann just completed his fourth season at Ohio State. The Buckeyes have won 20 games or more all four years with NCAA Tournament appearances each season.
Ohio State is 87-43 under Holtmann. The Buckeyes were 21-10 this season with a fifth-place finish in the B1G standings, finishing as the runner-up in the B1G Tournament and earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
