Report: Judge will allow Ex-MSU DE Auston Robertson to play football at Garden City Community College

Months after being arrested on a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, former Michigan State defensive end Auston Robertson was given approval from a judge to continue his football career in 2017.
According to Lansing State Journal reporter Christopher Haxel, Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Clinton Canady III granted the opportunity to Robertson on Tuesday. Robertson, who was dismissed from Michigan State’s football program earlier this year, will be attending Garden City Community College in Kansas.
Robertson is accused of sexualy assaulting a woman in her apartment on April 9. The 19-year-old defensive lineman is awaiting trial on two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which carries a potential 15-year prison sentence if convicted.
This was not the first run-in with law enforcement the former Spartan has faced. In January 2016, Robertson was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an October 2015 incident. Then, Robertson was accused of improperly touching a female classmate. He was cleared of those charges after completing his diversionary program.
Robertson was a four-star defensive end and was the second-highest rated commit of Michigan State’s 2016 class. As a freshman, he appeared in seven games and made three tackles.
