Not even 24 hours have passed since LSU defeated Clemson in the national championship, but there’s some trouble brewing in Baton Rouge.

Following LSU’s 42-25 victory over Clemson in New Orleans on Monday night, a video of former Tigers receiver Odell Beckham Jr. handing out cash to players on the field made its way around social media. Wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin were seen taking the money in the video.

But that money was fake — at least that’s how LSU is attempting to handle the situation right now. According to a report from The Advocate, an LSU athletic official said the money was not real.

Beckham was a star receiver at LSU from 2011-13 before becoming a sensational NFL talent with the New York Giants. He is now currently a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Per current NCAA rules, players are not permitted to profit off their name, image or likeness. They are also not allowed to receive monetary gifts.

It will be interesting to see if anything more stems from these encounters with Beckham and the LSU receivers.
