Report: Marcus Carr expected to withdraw from NBA Draft

One of the best guards in the B1G from the 2020-21 season is expected to return to college for the upcoming season.
College basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported this week that Minnesota star guard Marcus Carr is expected to withdraw from the NBA Draft after testing the waters. He is also still in the NCAA transfer portal, making that decision after Richard Pitino was fired as head coach.
Former Golden Gopher and staffer Ben Johnson is now leading the program. Carr could still return to Minnesota if it’s in his best interest, but he is also able to explore his options outside of the Twin Cities.
Marcus Carr is expected to withdraw from the 2021 NBA Draft and return to college next season, per his mentor Vidal Massiah.
Carr is also in the transfer portal and will be one of the highest sought after transfers if he decides to leave Minnesota.

Carr started all 29 games for Minnesota last season, averaging 19.4 points, 4.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. Establishing himself as one of the league’s top guards, Carr was a first-team All-B1G selection following the 2020-21 campaign.
After starting his career at Pitt, Carr has spent the last three years with the Golden Gophers. He started in all 60 games he appeared in during the past two seasons and has averaged 17.4 points and 5.7 assists per contest.
