Maryland basketball coach Mark Turgeon is reportedly getting an extension to stay with the Terps.

That’s according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein:

It’s been an interesting offseason for Turgeon, who was rumored to be looking for an exit from College Park after 10 seasons on the job. He was rumored to be a candidate for the Oklahoma vacancy and was even the betting favorite earlier this week.

Turgeon has won consistently for the Terps, but not at the level they did under previous head coach Gary Williams. Turgeon is 221-113 overall at Maryland, but he hasn’t led the Terps to the Sweet 16 since 2016.

However, Maryland has played in five of the last NCAA Tournaments and won a share of the Big Ten regular season championship in 2020.

According to Rothstein’s report, an official announcement is expected soon.
