Matt Millen and his family received one of the greatest Christmas gifts of all this holiday season.
Prior to the start of the season, we learned that Millen was diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare heart disease that is oftentimes life-threatening. Early in the year, the former Penn State star and Big Ten Network analyst stepped away from the broadcast booth to focus on his health.
On Christmas Eve, Millen underwent a heart transplant for the condition. And early in the morning, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King provided an awesome update.
Millen’s procedure was a success.
“An update on Matt Millen, for those who read about his heart transplant in the column,” King wrote on Twitter, “He is out of surgery and his wife Pat tells me the doctors told her it was a good match. Surgery was a success.”
Good morning. Merry Christmas Eve.
An update on Matt Millen, for those who read about his heart transplant in the column:

There’s really not a better Christmas gift for Millen and his family.
Throughout the year, members of Big Ten Network’s broadcast team showed their support for Millen as he stepped away from the booth. He was often mentioned through B1G football broadcasts and in social media posts throughout the season.
It’s been great to see all the love and support shown to Millen and his family. It’s even better to hear that his surgery was a success.
