Michigan defensive back Sammy Faustin has left the program, according to a report.

That’s per MLive.com’s Aaron McMann, who cites a team spokesman. Faustin was entering his redshirt sophomore season with the Wolverines.

Faustin’s departure is for medical reasons, according to the report. According to the spokesman, Faustin will remain on athletic aid and will “re-evaluate” after this season.

Faustin played cornerback for the Wolverines last season, but played in just one game. He’s played in 10 games total in his Michigan career, mostly on special teams.

He’s from Naples, Fla. and was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2018. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 54 overall cornerback in the country for that class.

Michigan is coming off a 2-4 campaign and will hope to drastically improve on that result in 2021.

The Wolverines’ 2021 season begins on Sept. 4 against Western Michigan.
