Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed has been arraigned on an operating while intoxicated charge, according to a report from Spencer Soicher of WILX News 10. The incident reportedly occurred in July.

Per the report, Reed has pled not guilty to the charge and is scheduled for pre-trial on Feb. 24. The offense occurred on July 17, 2020.

Reed, who transferred in from Western Michigan before the start of the 2019 season, was eligible for the first time since arriving in East Lansing for the 2020 campaign. The receiver played in all seven of Michigan State’s games this past year.

“Michigan State Athletics was aware of the situation involving Jayden Reed last July and the matter was addressed internally by the football program prior to the start of the 2020 season,” a statement said.

Reed caught 33 passes for 407 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first season with the Spartans. He also carried the ball 6 times for 17 yards. MSU ended the year with a 2-5 record.

Prior to attending Michigan State, Reed spent one season at Western Michigan. He was named a Freshman All-American by the FWAA after hauling in 56 passes for 797 yards and 8 touchdowns in 13 games, including 12 starts. Reed was forced to sit out the 2019 season with the Spartans due to NCAA transfer rules.
