Report: Michigan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams had no positive COVID-19 tests

The University of Michigan has paused all team and individual activities department-wide recently, based on a recommendation from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The reason is because of an increased number of positive COVID-19 tests that involved the B.1.1.7 variant.
A recent report indicates that the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as the hockey team, were not the problem.
David Jesse of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that there were no positive COVID-19 tests from the Michigan men’s or women’s basketball teams, nor from the hockey. However, the state still made the decision to shut down the entire athletic department.
I’m told from a reliable source there are no positive tests from basketball – men and women teams and no positive results from hockey. State made determination to shut down entire U-M athletic department.

Because of the pause, Michigan’s sports programs will not be permitted to compete in games, conduct practices or hold individual training sessions for 14 days. Multiple sporting events have been postponed or canceled over that two-week period.
Michigan announced the pause late Saturday night.
