Report: Minnesota losing DC Robb Smith to New England Patriots
By Adam Spencer
Published:
After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday night, the New England Patriots are also in need of a defensive coordinator, as former DC Matt Patricia is taking over as the Detroit Lions’ head coach.
The Pats are reportedly targeting Ohio State DC Greg Schiano to take over for Patricia, and now rumors are circulating that Schiano could pluck Minnesota DC Robb Smith away from the Gophers to join New England’s staff as well.
FootballScoop.com reported that Smith would join the Patriots’ staff on Monday evening:

Smith responded to the report, tweeting that he’s still a Gopher. However, that could all change quickly:

For now, he’s still on coach P.J. Fleck’s staff, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the coming days and weeks.
