Minnesota is reportedly adding a home-and-home series with an SEC opponent to its future basketball schedules.

Thursday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Minnesota and Mississippi State have scheduled a home-and-home series for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. The dates of the two games were not mentioned.

Per Rothstein, the first game will be played at Minnesota and Mississippi State will host the second matchup.

Last season, Minnesota finished the year with a 15-16 record and won the first game of the B1G Tournament before the conference tournament was canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. At best, the Gophers were competing for a spot in the NIT.

Head coach Richard Pitino will be returning to the sidelines for his eighth season in Minneapolis.

Mississippi State was 20-11 this season. The Bulldogs did not play a game in the SEC Tournament.
