After five years, Michigan football is moving on from Don Brown.
On Tuesday the Wolverines fired their defensive coordinator after Michigan finished the 2020 season with a 2-4 record, with the defense being a big reason for the losing record. After finishing in the NCAA’s top-12 in total defenses during Brown’s prior four seasons, they allowed 34.5 points and 434 yards per game this season.
But there will likely be more moves as the program moves forward.
According to FootballScoop.com, more staff changes are expected.
What will those changes be, and how many remain to be seen. The departure of Brown certainly suggests the return of head coach Jim Harbaugh for a seventh season. It’s been reported that Harbaugh and UM athletic director Warde Manuel have already spoken, and without a bowl game in the Wolverines future plans it’s anyone’s guess about when we will hear what, officially.
Reports have surfaced in recent weeks that a new contract has been discussed, with a lower base salary and incentives, but nothing has been officially announced.
Who will be in what role in Ann Arbor in 2021?
We’ll have to wait and see.
