Notre Dame is reportedly making one major change to its coaching staff following the 2019 season.

According to Pete Sampson with The Athletic, the Fighting Irish and offensive coordinator Chip Long are parting ways. Long has been at Notre Dame as OC since 2017 following one year as the OC at Memphis under Mike Norvell.

In 2019, the Fighting Irish averaged 37.1 points per game, good for 13th in the country. Notre Dame averaged 31.4 points per game in 2018 and 34.2 in 2017.

It remains to be seen where Notre Dame turns to replace Long, and it also remains to be seen where Long heads next. It’s worth noting that Norvell has left Memphis to take the head coaching position at Florida State, leaving Ryan Silverfield as the interim for the Tigers this postseason. That is just one place that may look into Long, but that is purely speculation at this point.
