Ohio State is reportedly bringing back a former Buckeye to fill a position on Ryan Day’s staff entering 2021.

According to Tony Gerdeman with Buckeye Scoop, Ohio State is bringing back C.J. Barnett to fill the post of Director of Player Development. That role was previously held by Ryan Stamper who left Ohio State to join Urban Meyer’s NFL staff in Jacksonville.

According to Gerdeman, Barnett and Stamper were both police officers before accepting the role at Ohio State:

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has hired former Buckeye football player CJ Barnett as the program’s Director of Player Development. The job was previously held by Ryan Stamper — who, like Barnett, was a police officer prior to assuming this role. Stamper recently left for a similar position with Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Barnet was a four-star recruit for the class of 2009 out of Clayton, Ohio. He played for the Buckeyes from 2009-13 and finished his career with 224 total tackles, four interceptions, and 12 passes defended.
