Report: Ohio State safety pleads guilty to OVI charge

Ohio State safety Marcus Hooker pleaded guilty to an operating a vehicle under the influence during his arraignment hearing on Monday, according to Eleven Warriors.
The charge occurred on March 13. From Eleven Warriors:
Hooker was charged with OVI on March 13 when Columbus Police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car in a McDonald’s drive-thru. Body camera video obtained by NBC4 showed that police officers had to break open the passenger-side rear window of his car in order to remove him from the vehicle – which was still in drive – after their efforts to wake him were unsuccessful.
According to the report, Hooker was fined $375 and will have his driver’s license suspended with limited driving privileges. A sentence of three days in jail has been suspended.
This was the second offense of a similar offense for Hooker. In 2018, he was suspended for Ohio State’s season opener after being charged with driving under the influence in Pennsylvania.
Head coach Ryan Day suspended Hooker from the team indefinitely. He has not participated in any spring practices and there is no timetable set on a potential return for the safety.
