Ohio State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Alex Grinch will be the next defensive coordinator at Oklahoma, according to a report.

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported on Friday that Grinch is expected to be the next defensive coordinator at Oklahoma. Grinch was with the Buckeyes for just one season.

Grinch came to Ohio State from Washington State, where he spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach on Mike Leach’s staff. He’s been a hot commodity on the market ever since completely transforming the Cougars’ defense.

In addition to Ohio State and Washington State, Grinch has had stops at Missouri, Wyoming and New Hampshire.

Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley fired defensive coordinator Mike Stoops following the Sooners’ loss to Texas. OU finished the season 12-2, winning the Big XII title and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinal Orange Bowl game. The Sooners fell to Alabama.
