Penn State could be adding one of college football’s most prominent programs to its future schedule.

Chip Brown of Horns247 is reporting that the Texas Longhorns are in talks with PSU officials about a possible home-and-home series in 2030 and 2031. Brown notes that UT is in talks with another Power 5 school, but has heard a deal may be closer to getting done with Penn State.

Texas officials have had discussions with Clemson, an opponent the Longhorns have never faced, about a possible home-and-home in 2030 and 2031, the source said. But UT might be closer to a deal to play home-and-home with Penn State in 2030 and 2031, the source said.

As of now, the most recent game between the Longhorns and Nittany Lions was the 1997 Fiesta Bowl. Penn State topped Texas 38-15 in the game. With the proposed future meeting so far off, however, there are plenty of years of bowl games for the two national powers to add to their five-game series history.

Texas already has future games scheduled with Ohio State (2025, 2026) and Michigan (2027).
