Report: Push for new contracts to keep Terry McLaurin, other NFL WRs out of offseason workouts

Former Ohio State wide receiver Terry McLaurin is reportedly one of three NFL wide receivers who is not expected to participate in his team’s offseason workout program while pushing for a new contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Monday.
Per Schefter, McLaurin, as well as Deebo Samuel and AJ Brown are not expected to be participants in offseason training programs as they work to get new contracts. Each signed a 4-year contract when they were drafted and all three have 1 year remaining on their rookie deals.

With AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel drafted in the second round, and Terry McLaurin in the third, each player receiced a four-year contract; now each player has one year left on his original rookie deal in a WR market that has dramatically shifted.

Samuel and Brown were both second-round selections in the 2019 NFL Draft. McLaurin was a third-round pick.
McLaurin has had an outstanding start to his NFL career. In his first three years with the Washington Commanders (previously Redskins and Football Team), the former Buckeye has totaled 222 catches for 3,090 yards and 16 touchdowns.
In 2021, McLaurin hauled in 77 receptions for 1,053 yards and 5 touchdowns. It was the second-straight season the Washington receiver totaled more than 1,000 yards.
