Randy Gregory remains suspended by the NFL under the league’s substance abuse policy, but he reportedly still hopes to play during the 2019 season.
The former Nebraska star is currently serving a fourth suspension that began in February of this year. In order to return to NFL action, Gregory must apply for reinstatement and be approved.
According to a report by Charean Williams with Pro Football Talk, Gregory has yet to apply for his reinstatement which could put his status for Week 1 of the season in jeopardy. Williams’ report also indicates Gregory is doing well in his rehab while taking things one step at a time.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to speak well of Gregory and the progress he has made away from the field. Hopefully, Gregory will continue to make progress and return to the football field before long.
Gregory was limited to 12 games in 2015 and two games in 2016 before missing all of the 2017 season. The former second-round pick was able to play in 14 games in 2018, missing just two games due to injury, and proved to be effective with six sacks. Gregory finished his Nebraska career with 16.5 sacks.
