A member of Ohio State’s 2018 recruiting class is reportedly on his way out of Columbus.
Dave Biddle of Bucknuts reported that Alex Williams has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. That allows Williams to explore other potential opportunities, but he can still return to Ohio State if it’s in his best interest.
Williams was a three-star member of the 2018 recruiting class, and was listed as the No. 34 weak-side defensive end in his cycle. Overall, he was ranked No. 615.
Williams is a native of Pickerington, Ohio and stands 6-foot-6, 270 pounds. He was initially committed to West Virginia, but flipped to Ohio State in January 2018.
Williams has already used his redshirt season (2018) and saw limited action for the Buckeyes in 2019. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining if he’s allowed to play immediately by the NCAA. If he’s ruled ineligible for the 2020 season, he will then have two seasons left.
Ohio State finished the season 13-1.
