Report: Revised B1G schedule in 2020 could result in Nebraska-Iowa playing on Black Friday again sooner than planned

If you want to look at the positives of the schedule change to the 2020 B1G football season, it could be that a somewhat brief B1G tradition might be resuming earlier than planned.
After years of Nebraska and Iowa meeting on the gridiron on Black Friday for the regular season finale, the game has been moved off that date for the next two years, with the two rivals playing earlier in the season. However, because of the B1G’s schedule adjustment this year, there’s a chance the Hawkeyes and Huskers resume their Black Friday tradition a year sooner than anticipated.
Mitch Sherman of The Athletic reported on Thursday that Nebraska AD Bill Moos is open — and hopeful — to the idea of resuming the annual Black Friday game in 2021, if it’s possible.
“From the beginning, I’ve really pursued the Nebraska-Iowa Black Friday matchup and rivalry,” Moos said. “If we can arrange the schedule as a result of what was just announced, I’d be thrilled to put it in a year earlier than had been planned.”
The Nebraska-Iowa game was typically the only B1G contest played on Black Friday, putting the conference’s spotlight on the rivalry game. Right now, the game is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2021.
This season, Nebraska is scheduled to play Iowa on Sept. 26 in Kinnick Stadium.
Nebraska and Iowa have played 50 times, with the Huskers owning a 29-18-3 advantage in the all-time series. However, the Hawkeyes have dominate the head-t0-head matchup since Nebraska joined the B1G. Iowa has won the last five meetings and six of the last seven contests.
