Report: Revised Pac-12 schedule will have a mid-September start date

A report from The Mercury News outlines the Pac-12’s expected approach to a revised college football schedule in 2020, now that the league is taking a conference-only approach this fall.
While no official announcement has been made, The Mercury News reports that the Pac-12 is planning on having a 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season. Earlier this month, the league followed the B1G’s plan of eliminating all nonconference contests due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The plan reported by The Mercury News states that the Pac-12 will begin its season on Saturday, Sept. 19. That would have originally served as Week 3 of the college football season.
There are also two bye weeks inserted into the schedules, which could serve as make-up dates for any games that need to be postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak or other issues that may arise. There are also three separate dates in which the Pac-12 Championship Game could be played. All are set for December.
Currently, the game is set to be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The B1G was the first conference to announce a league-only schedule in 2020 due to the pandemic. The conference could implement a similar policy as the Pac-12 in regards to scheduling in the near future.
No specific games, dates or schedules have been set for the Pac-12 at this time.
