Rutgers wide receiver Eddie Lewis is reportedly looking for a new place to play college football.
Monday, 247Sports reported that Lewis has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. He played in just four games this past season, utilizing the new redshirt rule and maintaining another full year of eligibility. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
This season, Lewis caught six passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. As a true freshman in 2018, he hauled in 24 receptions for 173 yards.
Lewis, a native of Middletown, New Jersey, was a three-star member of Rutgers’ 2018 recruiting class. He was ranked as one of the top 25 players from his home state and was listed as the No. 129 wide receiver in the cycle.
Entering his name in the transfer portal doesn’t require Lewis to leave the program, but it does allow him the opportunity to explore his options. If it’s in his best interest to return to Rutgers, he can do so.
Rutgers finished the 2019 season with a 2-10 record.
