Report: Two Clemson players ineligible for entire 2019 season

Two Clemson football players will miss the entire 2019 season after testing positive for ostarine prior to the College Football Playoff in January.
Tight end Braden Galloway and offensive lineman Zach Giella have had their appeal denied for eligibility for the upcoming football season and will miss the entire 2019 campaign. Galloway and Giella were two of the three Tigers who tested positive for the substance at the end of last season, with the third being Dexter Lawrence.
“We are disappointed in the results of the appeal and continue to believe our student-athletes did not knowingly ingest any banned substances. The Athletic Department takes seriously its role in the education, testing and enforcement of supplement and performance-enhancing substances,” Clemson said in a statement, according to The State. “We will continue to adhere to best practices with respect to supplement use by student-athletes and support the position of the NCAA in its testing for PEDs.”
Galloway and Giella were suspended for the College Football Playoff last year, but head coach Dabo Swinney defended his players, saying they did not knowingly use the banned substance.
Last season, Galloway caught five passes for 52 yards and a touchdown while playing in 12 games. He was expected to be a starting tight end for the Tigers this season. Giella would’ve been a rotational player on the offensive line and played in 11 games in the 2018 campaign.
