Report: Two Power 5 ADs saying cancellation of college football season ‘inevitable’

Major news broke in the world of college football on Saturday, when the Mid-American Conference (MAC) decided to postpone the fall sports season for 2020 and announced it will try to host athletic competitions, including football, in the spring. Many believe that could lead to other conferences shutting it down this year.
At least two athletic directors at the Power Five level believe that the cancellation of fall football is ‘inevitable,’ according to a report from CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.
“It’s not fair what we’re doing to our coaches and student-athletes,” one AD told Dodd. “The sooner we can come to a finality, the better.”
Another athletic director said, “I think it’s inevitable,” that the season is cancelled.
News out of the MAC was certainly troubling to the college football student-athletes, coaches and fans who are in support of having a season this fall. While now decisions have been made at the Power Five level just yet, the MAC was the first FBS league to make the tough decision.
Will more conferences follow that plan? We likely won’t have to wait long to learn the answer to that question.
