Smith had hinted at Meyer taking on another role at Ohio State at the head coach’s retirement announcement earlier this month. There were no specifics on what position, if any, Meyer would take over.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Meyer also intends to teach a character and leadership class at Ohio State as well. He’ll be a co-instructor for the course.
Currently, there aren’t many details of the duties and responsibilities Meyer will handle in his new position.
Meyer was the head coach at Ohio State from 2012-2018, leading the Buckeyes to three B1G titles, tw0 College Football Playoff appearances and a national championship. He was a perfect 7-0 against Michigan and an 82-9 record overall. The Buckeyes won at least 11 games in each of Meyer’s seven seasons.
Ohio State will take on Washington in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.
