Report: Western Michigan to debut new, secret helmet design in Week 1 vs. Michigan

Uniform reveals have turned into something of a social media spectacle in college football.
But for Western Michigan, the reveal will have to wait until they’re on the field this weekend against Michigan, according to MLive.com.
WMU has undergone a university-wide rebrand and is moving on from the “Ghost Bronco.” The Broncos aren’t giving any hints as to what the new logo — or logos, apparently — will look like.
Western Michigan used a placeholder helmet during its appearance MAC Media Day earlier this offseason, but a big reveal for their actual game helmet is coming this weekend.
“We’re going to wait until Saturday,” coach Tim Lester said at his weekly press conference, via MLive.com. “It was a long time coming, and a lot of different people had their hands in trying to find what would be best moving forward, and I know the players are really excited about the final product because they were very much part of the whole process – that’s why it took so long – and I know the guys are excited about it.
“Our guys like the variety. We’ll have different things different weeks, but you know the one that we roll out there in is planning on being our main design, and then making some adjustments depending on the day we’re playing, where we’re playing, what we’re doing with our uniforms, but it will be the main thing.”
Western Michigan went 4-2 and finished second in the MAC in 2020. The Broncos will open the season at Michigan on Sept. 4 at noon ET.
