Report: Wisconsin QB Jack Coan enters transfer portal as a grad transfer

Quarterback Jack Coan is reportedly moving on from Wisconsin.

Coan was Wisconsin’s starter in 2019 and led the Badgers to a 10-4 record and an appearance in the Rose Bowl.
However, Coan suffered a foot injury in the preseason and did not play this year. He was suited up for Wisconsin’s game vs. Minnesota on Saturday, but Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf received all the playing time.
As a junior with the Badgers, he threw for 2,725 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing 69.6 percent of his passes.
Coan is originally from West Sayville, New York. He was the No. 20 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
It’s currently unclear where Coan will land, but there are several schools in the Big Ten and elsewhere in the Power 5 that could use a QB of his caliber.
His departure clears up a bit of Wisconsin’s quarterback situation heading into next season. Mertz will likely be the favorite, but Wolf will also have a shot after Mertz’s offense stalled toward the end of the year.
Wisconsin ended 2020 on a high note with a 20-17 win over Minnesota in overtime on Saturday. The Badgers finished the season 3-3.
