This is another interesting development related to the ongoing investigation at Ohio State.
College football insider Brett McMurphy has provided yet another update to the ongoing investigation, this time with an interesting detail related to Zach Smith’s pay raises during his time at OSU.
According to McMurphy, Smith received by far the lowest pay raise of his time at OSU in 2015. That is also the year that Smith was investigated for domestic violence. The year before and the year after the investigations saw Smith receive much higher bonuses.
Former Ohio State WR coach Zach Smith's annual pay raise in 2015, the year immediately after he was investigated for domestic violence was only $6,600. The year before that his raise was $50,000; the year after that his raise was $73,400 https://t.co/fcxi8GKyeI

Another interesting part of McMurphy’s report comes from Smith’s staff performance review in 2017. According to McMurphy, one of the items listed for Smith under the “Work On” portion was “Personal Matters.” McMurphy pointed out this is the only reference to a non-football item on Smith’s performance review.
McMurphy reported the raise figures shortly after sharing the report that Shelley Meyer was a speaker at a conference to eradicate domestic violence just before Smith was investigated in 2015.
Head coach Urban Meyer has claimed he was unaware of these allegations against Smith. Ohio State’s investigation is still ongoing.
