Minnesota defensive end MJ Anderson entered the transfer portal on Sunday, according to The Pioneer Press’ Andy Greder.

A 3rd-year man on the Gophers’ defensive side of the ball, Anderson has played in all but 1 of Minnesota’s 11 games this season, but he’s been a reserve all year. Anderson got onto the field for Saturday’s 35-14 win over Indiana, but he didn’t register a stat. On the year, he has just 7 tackles and a sack to go with 2 pass breakups.

He’s the 3rd player so far this season to announce intentions to transfer out of the program, joining running back Cam Wiley and offensive lineman Curtis Dunlap Jr., per Greder.

Anderson was a 2019 signee from St. Louis. A 3-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite, he was rated as the No. 18 player in the state, the No. 55 player at his position (strongside defensive end), and the No. 835 player nationally. He held more than a dozen Power 5 offers.

He redshirted in 2019, his first year on campus, and played in 5 of Minnesota’s 7 games during the 2020 season.
