Rhode Island offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius might become 1 of the top offensive tackles at the FBS level in 2023. Before he lands on preview magazines, however, he’ll need to pick a school to attend next fall.

Cornelius is expected to announce his decision on Wednesday at 6 p.m. E.T. during Early Signing Period. Listed as On3 Sports’ No. 1 offensive tackle in the transfer portal, Cornelius announced his decision date in a story post on Instagram.

Currently, 2 B1G teams remain at the forefront of landing Cornelius’ services. Both Nebraska and Ohio State are listed as front-runners, along with Tennessee and Oregon. According to reports, Cornelius has visited all four schools since entering the transfer portal last month and told reporters that would be making his decision prior to Christmas.

A 2-year starter for the Rams, Cornelius played in 22 games, primarily serving at right tackle. Last season, the FCS Rams finished 7-4 and failed to make the playoffs. The 6-foot-4 pass protector entered the portal quickly after the season came to a close, and offers came pouring in left and right.

A native of New York, Cornelius will have 3 years of eligibility remaining thanks to the COVID-19 eligibility waiver granted to all players in 2020. According to On3’s crystal ball projections, Ohio State is favored to land the FCS transfer at 27.2%. Tennessee is close behind at 23.8%
