Richard Pitino discusses Minnesota’s struggles in loss to Wisconsin

Minnesota’s brief winning streak came to an end Thursday with a disappointing showing in the loss to Wisconsin.

Entering Thursday, the Gophers had won three straight, including back-to-back upsets of ranked B1G opponents. After taking down Iowa, Minnesota steamrolled Michigan State with an impressive showing against the Spartans.

Unfortunately, the team looked much different against the No. 6 Badgers. Wisconsin dominated the game inside the paint and shut down the Gophers defensively. For the game, Minnesota shot 31.3% from the floor, including a disastrous 3-for-13 from star Marcus Carr.

After the game, head coach Richard Pitino discussed what happened in the game. He admitted Minnesota was not moving the ball on the same level as the team did against Iowa. Pitino also noted the deep-post touches were a cause for concern.

Minnesota does not get much time to rest and regroup. The Gophers turnaround and face No. 25 Ohio State on Sunday. That game will be the fourth consecutive game against a ranked opponent for Pitino and company.
