Richard Wesley is one of the top overall prospects available in the 2026 recruiting class. A multi-sport athlete who also competes in track and field, Wesley committed to Dan Lanning and Oregon earlier in May.
However, that commitment did not even make it to June before a decision to reopen his recruitment. According to Chad Simmons with On3, Wesley has since decommitted from the Ducks as of Tuesday, opening up a new world of possibilities for the 5-star edge prospect.
According to a Monday report from On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Wesley will still take an official visit to Eugene on June 6, but he will also take a trio of other visits this summer, including 2 visits in the SEC. Wesley will visit Texas on June 20 and has a visit to Texas A&M with the date still TBD, and he will take an official visit to Ohio State on Aug. 30 for the season opener vs. the Longhorns.
It’s not hard to see why Wesley is on the radar of some of the top programs in the country. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Wesley is rated as a 5-star recruit and the No. 2 edge prospect in the entire country for the 2026 recruiting class. He is also the 14th overall player nationally, regardless of position.
Wesley was originally a class of 2027 prospect out of Sierra Canyon High School in California, but he has reclassified and will be a prize pickup for some program in the 2026 recruiting class.
