RJ Young has been breaking down the top stories of the college football offseason. Recently, the analyst for FOX Sports broke down his winners of the transfer portal entering the summer ahead of the 2023 season.
Young included Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program as a winner in the portal but with a twist. This time, Young included the Wolverines on his list of winners for the players that opted to stay put this cycle.
“Blake Corum, Donovan Edwards didn’t go anywhere, that’s how Michigan’s winning,” said Young. “You’ve got two tailbacks that could start for anybody, anywhere, any time who decided ‘No, we’ll stay here, we’ll run it back. We want to get back to the College Football Playoff a third time, we would like to beat up on Ohio State a third time, we would like to win a B1G Championship a third time.'”

While Young highlighted the duo that decided to stay in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines also added some key players via the portal outside of the program. Offensively, linemen Drake Nugent, Myles Hinton and LaDarius Henderson give Michigan some veteran pieces to anchor the unit.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Ernest Hausmann and edge prospect Josaiah Stewart give the Wolverines a couple of plug-and-play defenders for the 2023 season.
