Rock bottom: Michigan’s loss to Penn State is an ugly first in the program’s storied history

Michigan made history on Saturday, but not in a good way.
The Wolverines fell 27-17 to Penn State on Saturday afternoon, moving to 2-4 on the season.
But here’s where the history comes in: The Nittany Lions entered today’s game with an 0-5 record. This is the first time Michigan has ever lost to a team with an 0-5 or worse record.
Michigan trails 0-5 Penn State by 10 at the half.
Today is the 1,350th game in Michigan program history and it has never lost to a team that was 0-5 or worse.

Michigan is now 2-4 on the year with its only wins coming against a short-handed Minnesota squad and a triple overtime win against Rutgers.
For Penn State, getting in the win column for the first time in 2020 should give the Nittany Lions a bit of confidence down the home stretch. PSU plays Rutgers next week.
Sean Clifford, Will Levis and Kevone Lee all rushed for touchdowns in the win.
Michigan will end its regular season with games against Maryland and Ohio State.
