There were a ton of eyes on the Rose Bowl matchup between Ohio State and Washington on New Year’s Day.

Tuesday’s 9.7 overnight rating to see the Buckeyes post a 28-23 win over the Huskies in Pasadena was the highest-rated non-playoff New Year’s Six game. Previously, the 2017 Rose Bowl game between Penn State and USC had the record.

According to Eleven Warriors, the game peaked at 10.9 overnight late in the fourth quarter. The final 15 minutes were pretty exciting, as Washington clawed its way back into the game after trailing 28-3.

Several viewers from the Columbus area were tuned into the Rose Bowl. It was the highest-rate home market of the day with a 42.7 rating. That mark was the highest-rated home market for a non-playoff Rose Bowl since 2010.

Tuesday’s Rose Bowl game not only featured a pair of top 10 teams, but it was the final game for Urban Meyer as the head coach of the Buckeyes.
