Michigan has been known to land its fair share of star recruits from the state of Ohio.

Guys like Jake Butt, Taco Charlton and Dymonte Thomas were all Ohio recruits before they became Michigan stars. None of them, however, were recruited by Jim Harbaugh.

That’s not to say that the Michigan coach put Ohio on the back burner, but he only signed three recruits from there in the last two years, none of which were among the top eight recruits in the state.

Nolan Rumler could end that drought.

The four-star 2019 offensive lineman and Akron (Ohio) native announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Saturday:

Rumler is the No. 5 recruit in the state of Ohio and the No. 142 player overall in the 2019 class. The 6-4, 290-pound junior made the announcement a month after an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor.

The Archbishop Hoban offensive tackle has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and others. The last time Michigan signed a recruit ranked among the top five in the state of Ohio was Thomas back in 2013.

Michigan now has two 2019 pledges, including four-star IMG linebacker Charles Thomas.
