It will mark the first nonconference game for the Scarlet Knights since Greg Schiano returned to the sideline in Piscataway. Last year, Rutgers played all nine contests in the B1G, but all non-league games were canceled due to the pandemic.
Rutgers will be one of three B1G teams in action on that Thursday night. Ohio State and Minnesota will also play that evening.
Rutgers and Temple have met 35 times on the gridiron with the Scarlet Knights owning a 20-15 all-time series lead. The last meeting was in 2013, a 23-20 Rutgers victory. The Scarlet Knights have won the last four matchups, dating back to 2003.
