Rutgers cornerback Donald Williams has officially put his name in the transfer portal and will be leaving the school.
It was announced earlier on Monday by the NCAA Transfer Portal Twitter account for Rivals:
2019 3-star DB Donald Williams has entered the transfer portal after redshirting last season (played 3 games) and opting out in 2020 @rivalsmike @RivalsWoody @RichieSRivals @RutgersRivals https://t.co/NaR0Me4duc

As the tweet says, Williams is a former three-star recruit from New Jersey and was in the class of 2019. He was also considered a top 1,000 ranked recruit in the country, according to 247Sports.
Williams also only played in three games during the 2020 season before opting out. He’s likely looking for a change of scenery and potentially some more playing time.
This news could potentially have been a shock to head coach Greg Schiano as he’s not used to having players leave via the portal while he’s been there. He’s always worked the portal hard for incoming players to the school.
Before originally committing to Rutgers, Williams had an offer list that consisted of: Buffalo, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Temple, and West Virginia. We’ll have to see if one of those schools will be his next destination whenever he announced his commitment.
