A Rutgers defensive back has decided to enter his name in the transfer portal, according to a report.

Tuesday, 247Sports reported that defensive back Malik Dixon has entered the transfer portal and will seek opportunities to play elsewhere. The news comes a few days after the Early Signing Period for the 2020 recruiting class ended.

Dixon enters his name in the transfer portal with one season of eligibility remaining, a sixth year based on a hardship waiver. The defensive came to Rutgers after spending two seasons at USF and another year at Eastern Arizona Community College.

In 2018, Dixon used a redshirt season before returning to the field in 2019 for the Scarlet Knights. He appeared in all 12 games for Rutgers this season, totaling 31 tackles, three pass break-ups and forcing a fumble.

Rutgers finished the 2019 season with a 2-10 record.

It was not mentioned where Dixon would look to play his final season. The defensive back could return to Rutgers if he chooses to do so, as the transfer portal doesn’t force a player to leave the school.
