A four-year member of Rutgers’ football roster has decided to finish his college career elsewhere.

Rivals.com is reporting that senior defensive end Tijaun Mason has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal after spending the past four seasons with the Scarlet Knights.

Mason came to Rutgers as a 3-star member of the 2017 recruiting class. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive lineman did not see any game action in his first year with the program, maintaining his redshirt status.

Over the past three seasons, Mason has played in 16 games. He’s been credited with six total tackles including 2 solo stops. He’s also registered a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a pass break-up over three years.

With the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility for all fall student-athletes, Mason will still have two years of eligibility to use at his next destination. As a graduate transfer, he’ll be immediately eligible at his next destination.

Rutgers ended the 2020 season with a 3-6 record in the first year of Greg Schiano’s return. The Scarlet Knights defeated Michigan State, Purdue and Maryland, and they were one of just two B1G teams to play a complete nine-game schedule.
