Rutgers dominates Power 5 peers in unfortunate stat vs. ranked teams

There are dry spells and then there are droughts. Rutgers is in a drought when it comes to wins over ranked opponents.
According to Fox College Football, it’s been 5,123 days since the Scarlet Knights last win over ranked opponents. If you’re counting, that’s just over 14 years. That’s the longest of any Power 5 conference team in the nation, and almost 2 years longer than Kansas, the next team on the list.

Rutgers has not beaten a ranked team since Nov. 12, 2009, when they won out against No. 23 South Florida. The Scarlet Knights are 0-20 against ranked opponents since that win.
Rutgers will face No. 4 Michigan this Saturday, which will be one of the Knights final opportunities to end the drought this season. If Rutgers is unable to upset Michigan, they have a final opportunity against a currently-ranked No. 16 Penn State on Nov. 19.
