Julius Turner is returning for another season, a big boost for the Rutgers defense.
On Tuesday afternoon, Turner went on social media and posted that he will take advantage of another season of eligibility and will return to Rutgers. For the Scarlet Knights, the interior defensive lineman’s return in 2021 is huge for a defense that played well and exceeded expectations in their first season under returning head coach Greg Schiano.
A senior defensive tackle, Turner had a strong 2020 for Rutgers. He had 35 tackles including eight tackles for a loss in nine games.

Turner’s best game was against Penn State as he had a season-high seven tackles in Rutgers 23-7 home loss on Dec. 5.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rutgers defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour announced that he will forego his remaining season of eligibility and would declare for the NFL Draft. Dwumfour was a transfer from Michigan who played this past season at Rutgers.
