Rutgers was already going to be up against it as a touchdown underdog at Nebraska on Saturday afternoon.
But the Scarlet Knights’ challenge to steal a win at Memorial Stadium might be even harder. Four key Rutgers starters are listed as questionable for the Big Ten matchup against the Cornhuskers at 4 p.m. on FS1.
The quartet of possible missing Rutgers players includes cornerback Robert Longerbeam, safety Michael “Flip” Dixon, and wide receivers Ian Strong and Chris Long. The 4 players will be evaluated during warmups to see if they can make a go of it after all.
Rutgers has been one of college football’s early surprises in 2024 and is trying to keep the momentum going at one of the hardest places to win in the country. The Scarlet Knights are off to a 4-0 start and are 1-0 in conference play after beating Washington at home last week.
Meanwhile, Nebraska bounced back in a big way from a crushing Week 4 overtime loss at home to Illinois by winning at Purdue last week to improve to 4-1 overall and even its B1G record at 1-1.
ESPN’s matchup predictor already gives Nebraska a 65.5% chance to beat Rutgers on Saturday, and that number is likely to go up if Rutgers is even missing a few of those 4 starters.
