Rutgers has landed its next defensive line coach. It swiped Marquise Watson away from Ole Miss to bolster its staff heading into the 2022 season.

Saturday morning, head coach Greg Schiano announced the addition of Watson to the staff.

“Marquise is a great addition to the Rutgers Football Family,” Schiano said. “Already familiar with the area, Marquise will hit the ground running and play a big role in developing our players on the defensive line. He is one of the top young coaches in college football today.”

Watson was on the Rutgers staff in 2018 under head coach Chris Ash. For his lone season with the Scarlet Knights, Watson served as a defensive assistant.

Last year, Watson was a senior analyst for an Ole Miss team that won 10 games. In 2019, he was a defensive graduate assistant for the Rebels.

He’s also had stops at Amherst and Bryant, his alma mater.
